Mayor Bowser to Be Sworn In as the First African American Woman to be Elected to Three, Four-year Terms as Mayor of an American City

(Washington, DC) – On Monday, January 2 at 9:30 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will be sworn in as the seventh elected Mayor of the District of Columbia and the first African American woman to ever be elected to three, four-year terms as mayor of an American city. The inauguration ceremony will also include the swearing in of Attorney General Brian Schwalb and members of the Council of the District of Columbia including Council Chairman Phil Mendelson.

Later in the day, Mayor Bowser will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners.
