(Washington, DC)  – After a fantastic season of summer fun, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is proud to “Fall” into an amazing, boo-tiful October full of events, activities and fun.

Please enjoy this monthly listing of all the events DPR has to offer this month, including events honoring Breast Cancer survivors and those remembered. DPR has hosted several annual Breast Cancer events over the years and we encourage residents and communities to join us this year as we observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Play DC, Mayor Gray’s Playground Initiative, is well underway and DPR has opened 27 Play DC playgrounds to date and we hope that everyone is enjoying the new playgrounds this fall season. Forest Hills playground will open this month and more playgrounds are scheduled to open in November. DPR’s collaborative efforts with our sister agency, the Department of General Services (DGS), have culminated into creating new, exciting and innovative play spaces across the District. We invited you to #PlayDC!

And of course – Halloween!!!  DPR has a bubbling, cauldron of Halloween events for all ages to enjoy, from Haunted Houses to parades to costume contests to community partner events; DPR is definitely offering something for everyone this October for Halloween.

So come out, join us and be sure to let us know your thoughts, share an idea or if you are attending one of our events, please share your experiences with us via Grade.DC.gov.
