(WASHINGTON, DC) – The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced today the exciting launch of a new text/email alert system.  This system will allow constituents to receive up-to-the-minute text/email alerts regarding facility closures, delayed openings, field and weather updates, heat advisories and more to their mobile devices or email accounts.

DPR's twitter and facebook accounts will continue to post alerts and information, however the text/email alert system will ensure that constituents who are not connected to DPR via social media, can also receive timely information.

Constituents can sign up to receive text and/or email alerts the following ways:

• For mobile or email: Go to http://dpr.dc.gov/page/dpralerts and enter your cell phone number or email address
