District, DC United to Host Community Open House for Proposed Soccer Stadium in Buzzard Point

WHAT/WHO:          District officials, representatives from DC United and Akridge will host an Open House/Community Information Forum for the proposed soccer stadium in Buzzard Point.  The session will provide in-depth planning information for residents on all facets of the project.

                                Just steps away from Metro Green Line Navy Yard station.  Parking is available in the building.
 
BACKGROUND:     Since announcing plans a the world-class soccer stadium in Buzzard Point earlier this year, the District, DC United and Akridge have participated in several D.C. City Council hearings and community meetings on the project. This is an opportunity for community members to receive the very latest planning updates and answers to any questions they may have about the project, all in an informal setting. Representatives, government officials and key consultants will be available to discuss planned traffic operations, housing, environmental clean-up, jobs, contracting and more.  In advance of the Open House, the public is encouraged to go online to www.oca.dc.gov/soccer to review the legislation, latest planning and transportation studies and images of the proposed stadium. Light refreshments and a kid’s play area will be provided.
