Mayor Bowser Provides Public Safety Update 5/21/25  

On Wednesday, May 21 at 11:56 pm, Mayor Bowser was joined by members of the Washington, DC public safety team and federal partners to provide a public safety update to the community following a fatal shooting that occurred near the Capital Jewish Museum. Watch the press conference here.

Meeting with Faith-based Community Leaders 

On Thursday, May 22 at 9 am, Mayor Bower was joined by members of faith-based organizations across DC to further understand this tragic event and share resources with the various communities.  

Mayor Bowser Announces Recipients of New Safe and Secure DC Grants 

On Thursday, May 15, Mayor Bowser and the Office for the Deputy Mayor for Public Safety and Justice (DMPSJ) announced 11 nonprofits have been awarded funding from a $500,000 grant program to enhance the physical security and safety of organizations located in the District. 

The grant will provide partner organizations with funds to improve and increase the physical and/or cyber security of their facilities and prioritizes preparedness activities of nonprofit organizations that have heightened safety concerns. Interfaith Preparedness and Advisory Group (IPAG) 

The Interfaith Preparedness & Advisory Group is a joint effort to encourage dialogue with the District's faith-based organizations (FBOs) in order to enhance preparedness for all types of hazards. Congregations and faith-based organizations wishing to join IPAG should email [email protected] to be added to the group. Find more information at hsema.dc.gov/IPAG
