Statement on Haiti's Temporary Protected Status

Thursday, May 18, 2017

(Washington, DC) – Yesterday, Mayor Bowser joined Cities for Action in calling on the federal government to extend Haiti’s Temporary Protected Status in a letter that can be found HERE. Today, on Haitian Flag Day, the Mayor released the following statement:

“Protecting human rights is assuredly among DC values, and as an international city, we cherish our diversity and welcome people from around the globe. When faced with a humanitarian crisis, temporary protected status affords needed refuge for those affected by it, and that is why I am proud to stand with mayors across the country to support a continued commitment to the people of Haiti.”
