(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close the following single lanes in the District’s highway network on Friday, February 13, from 10 am to 3 pm, weather permitting.

The temporary closures will assist DDOT staff with a series of routine bridge and tunnel safety inspections, which are scheduled to occur as follows on the I-395 and I-695 highways in the vicinity of South Capitol Street in Ward 6:

• There will be a right-lane closure of northbound South Capitol Street under I-695 and associated ramps.
• Next will be a right-lane closure of southbound South Capitol Street under I-695 and associated ramps.
• This will be followed by a right-lane closure of the ramp from northbound South Capitol Street to northbound I-395.
• Finally, there’s a left-lane closure of the ramp from northbound South Capitol Street to northbound I-395.

Traffic controls will be in place to warn motorists approaching the areas. Since only one lane will be closed during off-peak hours, the traffic impact is expected to be minimal. 

Motorists are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the inspection personnel.
