Today, Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier issued additional guidance to members of the Metropolitan Police Department in light of the Palmer versus DC ruling regarding possession of firearms.  Please see attached.

This guidance should be helpful to the community and should answer many questions from the media.  As Chief Lanier has stated, these are complicated legal issues and the answers that can be provided are provided here.   The legal team from the Office of the Attorney General continues to work on additional clarifications from the ruling and in the meantime has asked that we not comment any further.
