Mayor Bowser Presents Fiscal Year 2016 Budget Proposal to the DC Council
(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser presented a balanced Fiscal Year 2016 Budget to the DC Council.
The District of Columbia Fiscal Year 2016 Budget and Financial Plan, titled “Pathways to the Middle Class,” solves the $193 million gap and funds initiatives to prioritize affordable housing, preserve funding for education and public safety, and make investments to put the District on a path to end homelessness and improve the city’s aging infrastructure.
Each of these items was a key priority identified by District residents at the Mayor’s public engagement forums held during the budget formulation process.
“My administration has prided itself on being inclusive and transparent in the budget process,” said Mayor Bowser. “The budget will allocate funds where they are most needed, provide necessary improvements around the city, and create new opportunities for DC residents.”
