Mayor Bowser Names Ernest Chrappah as Taxicab Commission Chair

(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced Ernest Chrappah as Interim Chairperson of the DC Taxicab Commission.
“Chairman Ernest Chrappah will lead our efforts to provide top-notch services for residents and visitors of the District of Columbia through the oversight of safe, comfortable, efficient and affordable taxicab experiences,” said Mayor Bowser. “Ernest has a wealth of experience serving District residents and a reputation of finding innovative solutions to complex challenges. His record of delivering for DC will make him an asset for District residents, visitors and drivers in the rapidly changing transportation sector.”

Chrappah has served the Government of the District of Columbia for the past 6 years, including serving as the Chief of Operations at the Taxicab Commission and as Budget Director for the Special Education Transportation Division at the Office of the State Superintendent of Education. Most recently, Chrappah served as the Deputy Chief Information Officer at the DC Child and Family Services Agency. Chrappah also served as a Program Manager with the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) overseeing IT initiatives for multiple District agencies. At OCTO, Chrappah was part of the team that won the NASCIO 2008 award for innovation in the IT project management category.
Chrappah holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business.
