Mayor Bowser and Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman Set Friendly Wager on Outcome of Stanley Cup Finals

Friday, May 25, 2018

(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Bowser made a friendly wager with Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman on the outcome of the National Hockey League Stanley Cup Finals between the Washington Capitals and the Vegas Golden Knights. The mayors will wager a basket of treats from local businesses on the outcome of the series, and the losing mayor will also wear the opposing team’s jersey in a photo posted to social media.

“The Golden Knights have had an impressive first season, and we hope this series provides them the experience they need to bring home the Cup sometime in the future. However, this series will be #ALLCAPS, so on behalf of all Capitals fans: We want Vegas. Let’s go, Caps!” said Mayor Bowser.

“The Vegas Golden Knights and the Washington Capitals have both earned their way to the Stanley Cup Finals,” said Mayor Goodman. “I’m looking forward to a great series, but everyone knows you never bet against Las Vegas. Go Knights Go!”

The first game of the best-of-seven series against the Vegas Knights will take place Monday, May 28 at 8 pm ET in Las Vegas.
