Lane Closures for Bridge and Tunnel Safety Inspections on December 2, 3 and 5

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will conduct a series of bridge and tunnel safety inspections throughout the District’s highway network on Tuesday, December 2, Wednesday, December 3 and Friday, December 5, 2014. These activities will require single-lane closures, which will take place during off-peak hours from 10 am to 3 pm, weather permitting.

The required lane closures and inspection activities are scheduled to occur as follows:

Malcolm X Avenue, SE, over South Capitol Street

Tuesday, December 2, 2014

There will be a right-lane closure of southbound South Capitol Street under Malcolm X Avenue, SE, followed by a right-lane closure of northbound South Capitol Street under Malcolm X Avenue, SE

D Street, NW, over I-395 Center Leg  

Wednesday, December 3, 2014

There will be requests alternating lane closures of the northbound lanes of I-395 Center Leg under D Street, NW (inside the tunnel) followed by alternating lane closures of the southbound lanes of I-395 Center Leg under D Street, NW (inside the tunnel).

Anacostia Freeway (I-295) over Good Hope Road

There will be alternating lane closures of the eastbound lanes of the Anacostia Freeway (I-295) over Good Hope Road, followed by alternating lane closure of westbound lanes of the Anacostia Freeway (I-295) over Good Hope Road.

Traffic controls will be in place to warn motorists as they approach the areas.

Motorists are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations, and to be observant of the inspection personnel.
