UI Benefits for Claimants

If you are a federal government employee who was furloughed on December 22, 2018, and wish to file an initial claim for UI benefits, you may file over the phone by calling the Customer Navigation Center at (202) 478-5937Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm or online at www.dcnetworks.org. Our American Job Center Headquarters location will be open from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm for computer access in order to file a claim online, to answer any UI inquiries, and for you to provide your required wage documentation. Please note, if you receive retroactive pay from your employer, you will be required to repay all UI benefits received when the retroactive pay is awarded. If your last duty station was not in the District of Columbia, please use the following link to access the appropriate State Workforce Agency to file your claim: www.servicelocator.org/OWSLinks.asp.

Workforce on Wheels

The Workforce on Wheels (WOW) team is a cutting-edge mobile service operation developed by the District of Columbia Department of Employment Services (DOES) to address the needs of District's youth and residents in the communities where they live. Commissioned to serve constituents in underserved communities, the WOW team and mobile unit allows DOES to bring American Job Center (AJC) resources and services to neighborhoods where access is often limited. WOW features workforce programming and employer services, providing opportunities for District residents to prepare for employment opportunities and businesses to connect with qualified applicants.

DOES Workforce on Wheels (WOW) location and schedule during shutdown:

  • January 14, 2019: Anacostia Metro Station, 2400 Block of Shannon Place SE, 10 am – 2 pm (Ward 8)
  • January 15, 2019: Brookland Manor Apartments Community Center (Parking Lot), 2525 14th Street NE, 11 am – 2 pm (Ward 5)
  • January 16, 2019: Cedar Height Community Center, 1510 Butler Street SE, 1 pm – 4 pm (Ward 8)
  • January 17, 2019: KRA Corp, 3847 Alabama Ave, 10 am – 2 pm, (Ward 8)
  • January 18, 2019: Deanwood Metro Station, 4720 Minnesota Ave NE, 10 am – 2 pm (Ward 7)
