Upcoming Lane Closures for Bridge and Tunnel Safety Inspections from January 22 to January 23

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will conduct a series of bridge and tunnel safety inspections throughout the District’s highway network on Thursday, January 22 through Friday January 23, 2015. These activities will require single-lane closures and will take place during off-peak hours from 10 am to 3 pm, weather permitting. 

The required lane closures and inspection activities are scheduled to occur as follows:

Anacostia Freeway (I-295) over Railroad Yard

Thursday, January 22, 2015
There will be alternating right and left-lane closures of southbound Anacostia Freeway (I-295) over railroad yard followed by alternating right and left lane closures of northbound Anacostia Freeway (I-295) over railroad yard.

Maine Avenue, SW, under CSX Railroad Bridge and Pedestrian Walkway on Former Railroad Bridge  

Friday, January 23, 2015
There will be a left-lane closure of westbound Maine Avenue, SW, under the CSX Railroad Bridge and pedestrian walkway bridge followed by left lane closure of eastbound Maine Avenue, SW, under the CSX Railroad Bridge and pedestrian walkway bridge.

Northbound South Capitol Street Bridge Southern Approach (Middle Ramp)

There will be right-lane closure of the northbound South Capitol Street Bridge Southern Approach (Middle Ramp) followed by a left-lane closure of the northbound South Capitol Street Bridge Southern Approach (Middle Ramp). 

Traffic controls will be in place to warn motorists as they approach the areas.

Motorists are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the inspection personnel.
