Statement From Mayor Bowser on June Revenue Estimate

Tuesday, June 30, 2015

Today, DC Chief Financial Officer Jeffrey DeWitt released the revised revenue estimates for the 2015 District of Columbia Budget and Financial Plan. The June forecast for local revenue has been revised upward by $117 million. The primary drivers of this increase are strong April individual income tax filings and stronger than expected wage growth. In response to the new estimates, Mayor Muriel Bowser released the following statement:

“Washington is undoubtedly a city on the move.  Our economy is growing, our communities are thriving and our city’s finances are strong – and getting stronger.

“While some of the additional revenue will go toward paying for unfunded liabilities, we will make sure that everyone benefits from our city’s success. We will do that by continuing to invest in initiatives that will create pathways to the middle class for all District residents.”
