Lane Closures for Bridge and Tunnel Safety Inspections on December 22 and 23

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be conducting a series of bridge and tunnel safety inspections throughout the District’s highway network on Monday, December 22, 2014 and Tuesday December 23, 2014. From Monday through Friday, these activities will require single-lane closures and will take place during off-peak hours from 10 am to 3 pm, weather permitting. 

The required lane closures and inspection activities are scheduled to occur as follows:

I-295 Southbound over 11th Street, I-695 Connector Ramps and Good Hope Road   

Monday, December 22, 2014
There will be alternating right and left-lane closures of I-295 Southbound over 11th Street, I-695 connector ramps and Good Hope Road.

Westbound and Eastbound Benning Road over Kenilworth Avenue and CSX Railroad 

Tuesday, December 23, 2014
There will be alternating right and left-lane closures of northbound Kenilworth Avenue under Benning Road followed by alternating right and left shoulder closures of the northbound on and off ramps for Kenilworth Avenue under Benning Road.

Tuesday, December 23, 2014
There will be a right lane closure of eastbound Benning Road over Kenilworth Avenue and CSX Railroad followed by right-lane closures of westbound Benning Road over Kenilworth Avenue and CSX Railroad.

 Traffic controls will be in place to warn motorists as they approach the areas.

Motorists are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the inspection personnel.
