Fenty Administration Reopens Eastern Market
Mayor Adrian M. Fenty joined administration officials, District leaders, community members and local vendors for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand reopening of the historic Eastern Market. The event marks the completion of a $22 million renovation after a fire partially damaged the market in April 2007. Read more.

District Launches 2009 Free Summer Meals Program
The District kicked off the 2009 DC Free Summer Meals Program. The free meals program will offer more than 250 feeding sites throughout the District, providing free, nutritious meals to youth up to age 18 and some adults with disabilities throughout the summer. Read more.

Fenty Administration Announces Sidewalk Paving Initiative
Fenty, along with the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) Director Gabe Klein announced plans to begin installation of 200 miles of missing sidewalks in the District starting this summer. Read more.

Construction Begins on New Section of Metropolitan Branch Trail
Department of Transportation (DDOT) kicked off construction on a new section of the Metropolitan Branch Trail (MBT), a proposed eight-mile, multi-use trail that will stretch from Silver Spring to Union Station, connecting the Capital Crescent Trail, the Anacostia Tributaries Trail System and the National Mall. OHR Celebrates Fifth Anniversary of Language Access Act
As part of recognizing the fifth anniversary of the Language Access Act, OHR will host a Language Access Policy Forum on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 from 9 am - 4 pm. The event will recognize the accomplishments of the Language Access Program and provide insights for the growth of the program. The event is free and open to the public. Read more.
