Mayor's Turkey Giveaway
Mayor Fenty distributed over 350 turkey baskets to the residents of Kelly Miller and Garfield Terrace in Ward 1 on November 20. Turkey baskets included: frozen turkey, mashed potatoes, broccoli & cheese, frozen green beans, stuffing mix and a frozen sweet potato pie.

New Rules for Inauguration Rentals
In response to unprecedented demand for accommodations during the inauguration, Mayor Fenty issued an Executive Order, temporarily suspending the enforcement of the District’s regulations that require residents to have a basic business license for short-term rentals of residential property on and around Inauguration Day. Reform of DC Medicaid Program
The District announced that the new Department of Health Care Finance (DHCF) has reviewed years of city agency billing and past practices and proposed significant program reforms.

The Fenty Administration shut down 23 used car dealerships that owe thousands of dollars in fines and have been the backdrop of illicit activities.

OCTO Announces Contest Winners
The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) announced the winners of the District’s “Applications for Democracy”, a technology contest that allowed developers to design web applications to make DC Government data more useful. Read more.

District Implements EMS Task Force Recommendations
Mayor Adrian M. Fenty and Fire & EMS Chief Dennis L. Rubin announced significant accomplishments in the delivery of District emergency medical services (EMS) over the past year. Mayor Fenty also announced the nomination of Dr. James Augustine as DC FEMS Medical Director. Read more.
