Welcome to the Fenty File and the First 100 Days!

This is the first e-Newsletter for the Fenty Administration. Each month, we'll highlight a few of our top initiatives.

First 100 Days
One of the first things I did in office was to lay out the vision for the first 100 days (and beyond) of my Administration. We plan to make dramatic, efficient changes in the areas of life most important to District residents: Education, Public Safety, Healthcare, Human Services, Environment and Infrastructure, Economic Development and Affordable Housing. A Blueprint for School Reform

Mayor Fenty has unveiled his education reform plan, the top priority of his administration. The proposal calls for re-organizing the governance structure of the DC Public Schools, making them directly accountable to the Mayor.

Campaigning for Voting Rights

Along with Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton and members of the DC Council, Mayor Fenty has kicked off an aggressive campaign aimed at DC voting rights. The nation's capital has been disenfranchised for more than 200 years. This campaign will include a march from Freedom Plaza to the Capitol. Read more.


Making Our Neighborhoods Safer

The Metropolitan Police Department will put a renewed emphasis on community policing. Mayor Fenty and Acting Police Chief Cathy Lanier have put together a plan to increase police presence in District neighborhoods. The Mayor has long believed in the intrinsic link between strong community policing and crime reduction. Read more.
