Mayor Fenty and Chief Lanier Announce Increase in Reward for Edgewood Terrace Shooting

(Washington, DC) – The Metropolitan Police Department has increased the reward to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for the shooting death of 17-year-old Kenyetta Nicholson-Stanley.

Miss Stanley was fatally shot on October 8, 2009 while standing in a playground in the 500 block of Edgewood Street, NE.  Police continue to seek the public’s assistance in gathering more information about the case.

“Kenyetta’s death is tragic.  We will stop at nothing to find her killer.  We owe it to her family and to her community.  Hopefully, this reward will be additional incentive for people to come forward,” said Mayor Fenty.

“No detail is too small.” said Chief Lanier.  “The shooting occurred in a heavily populated neighborhood and we know many people saw or heard something that night.  Help us bring Kenyetta’s killer to justice.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or 1-888-919-CRIM [E] (1-888-919-2746).

The Metropolitan Police Department is offering the reward of up to $50,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for this homicide.

Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to DC CRIME SOLVERS at 1-866-411-TIPS and to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. If the information provided by the caller to the Crime Solvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
