Special Education - Our Promise and Vision to You
The Office of Special Education aspires to be recognized and respected as a leader in urban special education. We are determined to do whatever it takes to ensure that students with disabilities become successful adults holding good jobs, living independently and engaging in the community. Our three pledges to the community:
An important component of achieving these goals is ensuring that our schools are inclusive schools that can serve the needs of all our students. Annual Special Education Parent Involvement SurveyAll parents or guardians of school-aged children and youth who receive special education and related services in the District of Columbia are encouraged to complete the Office of the State Superintendent of Education’s (OSSE) annual Division of Specialized Education’s (DSE) Parent Involvement Survey. This survey is intended to measure satisfaction with the special education program and to determine if the school facilitated parent involvement. The annual survey is available until January 1st on the OSSE website.
