Proposed Ward 5 Great Schools Initiative
We Want to Hear from Every One of You!
Quality elementary, middle, and high school programs provide the skills and experiences students need to be successful in college, career and life. Ensuring that families have quality middle school options is important to DCPS.
This year, we have engaged parents and the community in Ward 5 to identify how to best support and strengthen our Ward 5 middle grade options.
We listened. Below are highlights from our proposal to provide 1180 middle grade seats in Ward 5 in SY2013-14:
- Middle School with an arts and world language emphasis with 500 seats.
- Pre-School – 8 Education Campus with an International Baccalaureate (IB) program with 300 designated Middle School seats.
- 6th – 12th Middle School Magnet and College Prep HS - a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Citywide Application School with 380 seats for middle school students.
